The Friends of Houston Judo, Inc. technical team will be working the NCJA National Judo Championships this Saturday, March 13th at Texas A&M in College Station.   The event is hosted by the Texas A&M Judo Team. www.aggiejudo.com

          Welcome to the website of the Friends of Houston Judo, Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Spring, Texas.   Our mission statement is to educate people in the greater Houston area about the international sport of Judo.
   
     "Judo is a dynamic Japanese martial art and Olympic sport that has grown much since its inception. As the founder of Judo, Professor Jigoro Kano defined the goal of Judo "as the harmonious development and eventual perfection of the human character."  Now, over a hundred years after its creation, Judo has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon that has touched the lives of millions. "

    Judo was introduced into the Olympic Games in 1964.
      
   Currently, there are 10 dojos (schools)  in the greater Houston area that offer Judo:  Champion Martial Arts and Fitness, Diamondback Judo Club, Freedom Judo Club, Friendswood Judo and Jujitsu, Karl Geis, Houston Budokan, School of Hard Knock Judo, Aikido, and Kenpo Karate Dojo, Southwest Chinese Baptist Church Judo Club, Texas A&M Judo Team and Westlake Judo Club.

     Students of the dojos usually join one or more of these state and national judo organizations:  Texas Judo, Incorporated, USA Judo, USJA, USJF and AAU Judo.
